My sketch of the Chagall stained glass windows (in St. Stephens Church, Mainz, Germany) has become strange currency in Sean’s wallet. I love that every time he rifles through his money, he thumbs my hastily scribbled angels, Eve’s apple, commandments, and a crown of thorns (thorns only implied, for safety).
To learn why I sketched the stained glass windows and made up fictitious stories about them (and to see what happens when you leave sketches in your wallet for too long and your girlfriend spills coffee on them), see my post Sketching Chagall into my Memoir.
My crucifixion scene below is pretty minimalist (right column, top). I especially like my scenes entitled “Other Stuff” and “Other Stuff” (left column, middle). Clearly the most important Biblical scene in my estimation is right column, bottom, beneath the mysterious “purple lady.”
